Flea & Tick Prevention

The flea and tick season is upon us now. Did you know that there is a natural way to help control these tiny pests?

I know there are many toxic products on the market either through your vet or in pet stores. Yes, they do work. Its a toxic chemical your applying to your pets skin. As we know, the skin is the largest organ on the body. Its absorbed quicky into their system. They recommend that you wash your hands immediatly after applying to your pet. That alone tells you something.

Ways to avoid a flea infestation is to avoid walking in deep over grown areas in parks or use a natural replellant, through diet and of course a commercial product. I personally do not use any commercial toxic products on any of my pets.

One product that I create using Essential oils of Tea Tree , Rosemary, Sage, Cedarwood, Peppermint, Sweet Orange, Eucalyptus, Citronella, Pine Needle has been very effective. I spray myself and my fur babies before heading outside to the park. It smells wonderful and my pets are quite used to our routine of applying this spray before we head to the park.

The Body’s Stress Response

When you perceive a threat, your nervous system responds by releasing  a flood of stress hormones, including adrenaline and cortisol. These hormones rouse the body for emergency action.

Your heart pounds faster, muscles tighten, blood pressure rises, breath quickens, and your senses become sharper. These physical changes increase your strength and stamina, speed your reaction time, and enhance your focus – preparing you to either fight or flee from the danger at hand.

Most of us just go along ignoring the symptoms that our body is telling us. We have busy lives, working, family and other responsibilties but your body is asking for help.

Did you know that there are several natural ways to help you deal with stress? Aromatherapy, Reiki, Meditation, Yoga just to name a few. Today, I am going to talk about the benifits of Aromatherapy to help with stress.

It can be as simple as using some essentials oils in your bath, putting a few drops of an essential oil on a tissue to inhale when facing a stressful situation, diffusing an essential oil in your home or office.

Some essential loils that are very helpful are Bergamot, Clary Sage, Roman and German Chamomile, Lavender, Ylang Ylang and more. One of the safest essential oils that is readily available is Lavender. Lavender is one of the essential oils that can be used neat. That means it can be used directly on the skin with no contraindications unless your preganant and it should not be used during the first trimester. Its as simple as adding 3-4 drops of a good quality Lavender essential oil to your bath. Relaxing for a few minutes. Lavender can also be used in a diffuser in your home or office. Lavender can also be added to a carrier oil such as fractionated coconut oil to create a massage oil.

The methods mentioned can greatly help your stress level.
